jumbo shrimp

honey-glazed shrimp and broccoli with rice

I think I’ve documented my love of honey on the blog before. This honey shrimp served with rice and steamed broccoli is pretty much as easy as it gets. I usually have all of these ingredients in the pantry and freezer, so it came together in a snap.

If you’re not a fan of fish sauce, you can probably substitute 2 tablespoons of soy sauce along with 2 tablespoons of water. If you try it this way, please leave a comment letting us know how it turns out. The fish sauce doesn’t really taste fishy paired with the honey, but give you an interesting salty, umami bite.

serves: 4

ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup fish sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 pound shrimp, shelled and deveined
1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

directions:
Combine the oil, fish sauce and honey in a medium pot large enough for the sauce and the shrimp. Add the shrimp to the pot and cook over medium heat until the shrimp is done. Remove the shrimp and reduce the sauce by half. Add the oregano and black pepper to the sauce and pour over the reserved shrimp.

  1. I love the combo of honey and prawns. Yum!

  2. Aunt Chris says:

The fish sauce was a little too salty. I may try low sodium soy sauce next time. The overall taste was good.
